Recently, our Director of Research Dr. Paul Bourgeois, PhD, CRC, NCC was featured in an interview with the University of New Haven' Charger Blog to talk about the research he has been conducting on stress in the emergency communications field. Paul outlines how, after finding a lack of empirical information about how emergency dispatchers cope with the psychological challenges of their work, he began his research as an attempt to use the real-world experiences of emergency dispatchers to assist in developing strategies for promoting the mental well-being of our 911 community. Focusing on the intersection of counseling, ethics and technology, Paul's research could be used to guide interventions and enable more positive outcomes in the ongoing mental health treatment of emergency dispatchers everywhere.

Paul is currently the Coordinator of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of New Haven. The research Paul has done that is referenced in the interview is a primary source of information for a selection of our courses, specifically our flagship Bridging The Gap series.
